Why I’d plan it this way

I’ve been to Bali fourteen times and lived there for more than six months, three of them in Ubud. The version of Ubud in this guide is the one I take friends to: temples early, the right warungs, and the jungle at the quiet end of the day.

That’s the kind of decision I explain in this guide. I’ve included the details I’d share with a friend planning it.

I’ve been travelling my whole life. The truth is, I’ve never been rich. What I have is an eye for value, and more than fifteen years of planning and logistics behind every recommendation.

Stays for every budget

My Ubud picks from about US$40 a night to the Four Seasons Sayan, and why I’d book a hotel here rather than an apartment. Pages 18 to 22.

Three days, planned

Morning to dinner: Monkey Forest, the Saraswati Temple and the Legong dance, rice terraces before the crowds, a purification ritual and Ayung River rafting. Pages 23 to 39.

The food worth flying for

A bonus café and dining guide, from Seniman coffee to a twenty-course tasting menu grown in Locavore’s own rooftop garden. Pages 40 to 46.

Three days.
The best of Ubud.

Each day runs from morning to dinner, with timing that keeps you ahead of the crowds. Follow it as written or swap pieces around.

Legong dancers performing at the Ubud Palace

Day one: the heart of Ubud

Monkey Forest and the Saraswati Temple, with sarong and etiquette notes. In the evening, the Legong dance at Ubud Palace. I tell you when to arrive for a good seat.

The swing over the Tegallalang rice terraces

Day two: terraces and holy water

Leave before 9 am for the Tegallalang rice terraces and the swings. Then a purification ritual, with a quieter alternative to Tirta Empul most visitors never hear about.

Rafting on the Ayung River through the jungle

Day three: jungle and calm

Rafting on the Ayung River in the morning, then yoga or a spa afternoon. My spa pick costs a fraction of the hotel spas and feels just as special.

For the trip you want to plan yourself

You’re happy to make the bookings. You’d just like a thoughtful starting point, with the places and practical details in one place.

A route, with room to adjust

Three days cover Ubud properly, and an arrival day is planned for you too. Add a night if you want slower mornings, or pair it with my other Bali guides for a longer trip.

Two ways to read it

The PDF keeps the original page layout. The EPUB lets you adjust the text in a compatible reading app. Download the files before travelling so you can read them offline.

Clear about what’s included

You’re buying the guide and its recommendations. Flights, hotels, transfers and activities are booked and paid for separately. This is a ready-made itinerary.

Hear from my travellers

I don’t like planning. We used the 3-day Ubud itinerary because we only had time for Ubud and the beach. It was ready for us, super helpful. We did everything Olga recommended and now I understand why people love Ubud. Saved time and money.

Dewi Kartika Sydney, Australia

The itinerary was so precise we never once opened Google Maps in confusion.

Bought one guide, came back for two more. That’s the review.

A few useful answers

If you’re wondering whether this guide is right for your trip, you can ask me directly.

Why buy this when I can Google it or ask ChatGPT?

Google and ChatGPT will give you a thousand options and no way to know which are real. I’ve stayed in these hotels, eaten in these places and taken this route myself. You get one plan you can trust, with the details that don’t show up in listings: timing, transport and what’s actually worth it.

How do I receive the guide?

You’ll receive a download link by email after purchase, with both the PDF and EPUB files. Check your spam folder if you can’t find it, or email olga@luxetravelstudio.com for help.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Open the PDF in a PDF reader, or the EPUB in a compatible reading app such as Apple Books. Download the files before you travel to read them offline. Opening websites or booking services will still need an internet connection.

Do I have to follow every day exactly?

No. Use the days as a starting point. Swap a temple for a spa afternoon or stay an extra night. Three days is a comfortable pace for Ubud, and the guide includes an arrival day to settle in.

Does the price include any travel bookings?

No. The price is for the digital guide in PDF and EPUB formats. Flights, accommodation, transfers, meals and activities are separate. You arrange those bookings yourself.

Will prices and opening times still be the same?

They can change. Use the guide to choose your route and shortlist places, then confirm current prices, opening hours and availability directly before booking.

What if I’d like a trip built around me?

If you’d like a plan around your dates, interests and pace, I also offer personalised trip planning. That is a separate service.
